Appropriates $29,808 for fiscal year 2019-2020 and $59,616 for fiscal year 2020-2021 to establish one full-time temporary Program Specialist V position within the Department of Land and Natural Resources to support the Marine 30x30 Initiative.

Appropriates $83,900 for fiscal year 2019-2020 and $167,800 for fiscal year 2020-2021 to fund strategic communication and stakeholder engagement activities for the Marine 30x30 Initiative.

Supports the Marine 30x30 Initiative, announced by Governor David Ige in 2016, which commits Hawaii to effectively manage 30% of its nearshore waters by 2030 through a statewide network of marine managed areas.

Funds public outreach and stakeholder input processes including statewide public hearings and community scoping workshops for proposed marine managed areas.

Takes effect July 1, 2019.
