Authorizes the state fire council to employ an administrator, administrative assistant, and other staff without regard to civil service requirements (chapters 76 and 89).

Removes the requirement that the administrator be employed on a full-time basis, providing greater flexibility in employment arrangements.

Grants the state fire council authority to expend funds for purchase of office equipment and supplies in addition to personnel costs.

Allows the state fire council to contract with any county fire department to employ individuals as authorized under this section.

Budgetary requirements for staff salaries, office equipment, and supplies shall be included in the department of labor and industrial relations budget.
