H.B. 562 Summary

• Department of Health shall convene a construction waste reuse and recycling working group to develop recommendations on implementing requirements for reuse, recycling, or donation of construction waste.

• Working group shall include the director of health (chair), comptroller, county environmental service representatives, building industry representative, non-governmental organization representative, Re-use Hawaii representative, Hawaii Materials Recycling LLC representative, Chamber of Commerce Hawaii president, and state building code council member.

• Working group members shall serve without compensation but may be reimbursed for necessary expenses including travel.

• Working group shall submit interim progress report to legislature no later than 20 days before 2020 regular session and final report with findings and recommendations no later than 20 days before 2021 regular session.

• Working group shall cease to exist on June 30, 2021, and act takes effect July 1, 2019.
