HB 741 Summary

• Adds a "one hundred per cent disabled veteran" designation option to Hawaii driver's licenses and identification cards for veterans with service-related disabilities rated as permanently and totally disabled by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

• The designation, or a symbol or abbreviation thereof, shall appear on the front of the license or card if desired by the applicant and may not include any designation other than the term "one hundred per cent disabled veteran."

• Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes sections 286-109, 286-111, 286-303, and 286-305 to require applications for driver's licenses and identification cards to collect information about applicant's one hundred per cent disabled veteran status if applicable and desired.

• Defines "one hundred per cent disabled veteran" as any person designated as such by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs due to service-related disabilities rendering them permanently and totally disabled.

• Effective date: July 1, 2019.
