Department of Transportation must adopt rules prescribing uniform standards and specifications for all official traffic control devices, including stop signs, yield signs, speed limit signs, railroad warning signs, street name signs, crossing signs, and roadway markings, after consulting with counties.

Traffic control device standards must comply with the Federal Highway Administration's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, as amended.

Department of Transportation and counties must consider engineering studies analyzing current speed distribution of free-flowing vehicles when setting maximum speed limits on roads.

Engineering studies for speed limit determinations must analyze roadway characteristics (shoulder condition, grade, alignment, sight distance, lane widths), roadside development, crash history, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and prevailing traffic speeds.

Act takes effect upon approval.
