Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs requested to establish a task force to study the feasibility of legalizing sports gambling in Hawaii.

Task force composition includes the Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (chair), Director of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, Attorney General, Chief Information Officer, a private practice attorney with sports gambling law knowledge, and two public members with sports gambling knowledge appointed by the Senate President and House Speaker.

Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs may invite additional individuals with relevant knowledge or experience to the task force.

Task force members are exempt from Hawaii Revised Statutes chapter 84 conflict of interest provisions solely due to their task force participation.

Task force must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2020 Regular Session convening.
