Approves the induction of George Ryoichi Ariyoshi into the Aloha Order of Merit, an honor established by the Legislature in 1993.

Recognizes Ariyoshi as Hawaii's longest-serving governor (1974-1986) and the first Asian-American elected governor of a United States state or territory, having previously served as Lieutenant Governor from 1970-1974.

Acknowledges his embodiment of the Aloha Spirit through values of kindness, unity, and compassion in his interactions with local, national, and international leaders.

Notes his receipt of the Japanese government's Grand Cordon of the Sacred Treasure, First Class, and his service on the East-West Center Foundation Board of Directors.

Directs certified copies be transmitted to the Office of the Governor and former Governor Ariyoshi.
