Requests the Director of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism to convene a task force to develop and implement initiatives recognizing and honoring former President Barack H. Obama, his historic legacy, and his impact on the Nation and State.

Task force membership includes the Governor, Senate President, Speaker of the House, Director of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, Hawaii Tourism Authority CEO, Office of Hawaiian Affairs CEO, University of Hawaii President, Honolulu Mayor, County Mayors of Hawaii, Kauai, and Maui, and one community member appointed by the Governor.

Task force shall examine identifying the entity to plan state-sponsored events honoring former President Obama, soliciting funding from public and private sources, accepting appropriations from state and county governments and other agencies, and accepting donations of money, property, and services.

Task force members serve without compensation but may be reimbursed for expenses including travel, and shall select their own chairperson.

Task force must submit a report to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2020, including progress, proposed activities, plans, recommendations, and any proposed legislation.
