H.R. 110 Summary

• Designates July 20, 2019, as "Tranquility Base Day" in Hawaii to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing on the moon's Sea of Tranquility.

• Recognizes Hawaii's contributions to the Apollo program, including the Kōkee Tracking Station on Kauai that provided voice relay and telemetry communications with NASA's Mission Control Center during Apollo 11.

• Acknowledges Hawaii's geological sites used for Apollo astronaut training between 1965 and 1972, including Haleauma'uma crater, Kīlauea Iki crater, and Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa volcanoes.

• Urges the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization to include Tranquility Base and associated artifacts on the World Heritage List alongside landmarks such as the Pyramids at Giza and the Statue of Liberty.
