Department of Health directed to convene a task force to evaluate and identify funding sources to support and maintain the Hawaii Wildlife Center facility.

Task force to be chaired by the Director of Health or designee and include representatives from the Senate, House, Hawaii Wildlife Center, Department of Health, Department of Land and Natural Resources, U.S. Coast Guard Sector Honolulu, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Task force requested to evaluate appropriate funding levels and potential use of the environmental response revolving fund under Hawaii Revised Statutes section 128D-2 to maintain the facility.

Hawaii Wildlife Center identified as the only native wildlife emergency response and rehabilitation facility in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands region meeting federal and state standards for large-scale rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured, or oiled wildlife.

Task force required to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2020 Regular Session convenes.
