HR 186 Summary

• Department of Health is requested to convene a task force to examine statewide domestic violence assessments and response protocols for emergency medical services personnel.

• Task force membership includes the Director of Health (chair), EMS chiefs from all four counties, two legislators from each house (at least one from Women's Legislative Caucus), Hawaii State Coalition Against Domestic Violence representative, and county domestic violence advocacy organization representatives.

• Task force shall examine whether domestic violence assessments and response protocols better protect victims and first responders, and identify implementation issues.

• Department of Health shall provide administrative support to the task force.

• Task force shall submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days prior to the 2020 Regular Session.
