• Requests the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism to establish an Artificial Intelligence Working Group to examine AI applications, competitive advantages, risks, and research development opportunities in Hawaii

• Working group must make recommendations on: current AI applications in other states/countries, competitive advantages for Hawaii's economy and government, potential dangers of AI integration, methods to encourage AI research at University of Hawaii and private companies, and other relevant issues

• Membership includes legislative committee chairs, DBEDT director, University of Hawaii Information and Computer Sciences Department chair, two private sector AI researchers with Hawaii resident ownership, and federal/private sector AI experts

• Interim report due 20 days before the 2021 Regular Session convening and final report due 20 days before the 2022 Regular Session convening, with findings, recommendations, and proposed legislation

• Certified copies of the resolution to be transmitted to relevant department heads and legislative committee chairs
