Recognizes Senator Akaka's decades of public service including World War II military service, education work, and more than 30 years in the United States Congress.

Highlights Senator Akaka's advocacy for Native Hawaiian self-determination, including his role in the Apology Resolution signed by President Clinton in 1993.

Notes that the State Capitol, opened March 15, 1969, features Hawaiian-inspired architectural design symbolizing Hawaii's geographic features and serves as the center of state government decision-making.

Requires certified copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Governor, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House, Comptroller, Director of Public Safety, and Chair of the State Capitol Management Committee.
