Recognizes and honors first responders on the Wai'anae Coast for their efforts during brushfires on August 4, 2018, that burned nearly 9,000 acres with flames at times within 10-15 feet of homes, schools, farms, and businesses.

Acknowledges the Honolulu Fire Department's deployment of over 100 firefighters, 27 engines, five aerials, six tankers, and one HAZMAT truck across multiple fire sites.

Credits Federal Fire Hawaii (16 units with 38 firefighters), Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife (two helicopters and 25+ personnel), and Hawai'i Army National Guard (two Blackhawk helicopters) for their firefighting contributions.

Recognizes the Honolulu Police Department for managing evacuations, detours, and road closures; the Wai'anae Coast Disaster Readiness Team for coordinating emergency communication and shelter operations; and Ka'ala Farms for protecting guests and cultural resources during the fire.

Acknowledges the Wai'anae Kai Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation Project as an ongoing effort to prevent future ignition fires through improved practices, security, and firefighting water availability.
