HI SB1261

Authorizes the Department of Land and Natural Resources to enter into the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact or similar agreements with state, federal, or foreign entities for mutual enforcement of hunting, fishing, and wildlife laws.

Allows the department to adopt administrative rules under Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 91 to enforce any agreement entered into under this authority.

Enables Hawaii to prevent wildlife violators who lost privileges in other member states from obtaining hunting licenses in Hawaii, and prevents Hawaii violators from escaping license revocations by engaging in activities in other states.

Establishes that forty-eight states have already joined the compact with minimal administrative burden and costs, with information system participation available for a nominal $500 annual fee.

Takes effect upon approval.
