• Adds three depressant substances to Schedule V controlled substances: Lacosamide (Vimpat), Pregabalin, and Brivaracetam (Briviact).

• Adds a new Schedule V category for FDA-approved cannabidiol drug products derived from cannabis containing no more than 0.1% residual tetrahydrocannabinols.

• Modifies electronic prescription requirements to allow either words or figures to indicate the quantity of controlled substances to be dispensed, whereas written prescriptions must use both words and figures.

• Applies to gamma hydroxybutyric acid, methadone, and buprenorphine prescriptions, requiring practitioners to record the medical need of the patient as part of the directions for use.

• Takes effect upon approval.
