Office of the Auditor shall conduct a performance and management audit of the Disability Determination Branch of the Department of Human Services and present findings and recommendations to the legislature.

Audit shall examine eligibility determination methods and procedures, including analysis of denial rates for initial applications and appeal outcomes.

Audit shall investigate factors causing extended processing times and internal management policies that may influence staff to make determinations without thorough evaluation of applications.

Auditor shall submit a report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2020.

An unspecified amount from general revenues is appropriated for fiscal year 2019-2020 to conduct the audit, with funds to be expended by the Office of the Auditor.
