Appropriates $455,000 for fiscal year 2019-2020 and $455,000 for fiscal year 2020-2021 to the University of Hawaii for the Hawaii Nutrition Employment and Training Program.

Funds support hiring of 7.0 full-time equivalent instructional and student support positions, materials, and supplies.

Program serves supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) benefit recipients by enrolling them in over 250 college and career training programs offered through University of Hawaii community colleges.

Participants receive additional benefits including reimbursement for gas, books, supplies, and uniforms, and are exempt from the 20-hour weekly work requirement while in the program.

Takes effect July 1, 2019.
