S.B. 543 Summary

• Removes the requirement that motor vehicle insurers maintain a "brick and mortar" sales and claims service office in Kalawao County.

• Recognizes that Kalawao County is the smallest county in the United States by population and land area, making a physical office requirement impractical.

• Allows licensed producers of insurers to satisfy sales and claims office requirements by establishing offices in every county where the insurer does business, except Kalawao County.

• Amends Section 431:10C-119, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to add an exemption for Kalawao County from the complete office requirement.

• Takes effect upon approval.
