• Requires new applicants for real estate broker or salesperson licenses to have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent as a prerequisite for taking the licensing examination

• Adds high school education requirement to Section 467-9.5, Hawaii Revised Statutes, while maintaining existing requirements for United States citizenship/work authorization and age of majority

• Does not apply to individuals already licensed as real estate brokers or salespersons prior to the effective date; applies only to first-time applicants on or after July 1, 2020

• Aligns Hawaii with many other states and jurisdictions that require high school education as a basic minimum educational requirement for real estate licensure
