Board of Dentistry shall adopt rules to establish a regulatory structure for dental assistants in Hawaii with two certification options: basic dental assistants and qualified dental assistants.

Qualified dental assistants must have graduated from high school or earned a general equivalency diploma and successfully passed a certification examination approved by the board.

Board of Dentistry shall submit a report to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2020 detailing progress on any rules adopted.

Act takes effect on July 1, 2050.
