Request the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Education to create a strategy for students to learn about modern farming, with UH Manoa serving as lead agency

Strategy should consider modern farming technologies including aquaponics, hydroponics, machinery, soil and water sensors, weather tracking, satellite imaging, automation, greenhouse technology, and vertical farming

Include curriculum plan appropriate for public school students in grades 6-12 and proposals addressing land tenure issues for farmers, including long-term land leases and infrastructure concerns

Incorporate information from other countries that have successfully adopted modern agricultural practices resulting in higher yields, greater productivity, lower input costs, and increased profitability

Require submission of findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days prior to the convening of the 2020 Regular Session
