The Senate supports development of a comprehensive Hawaiian Language Plan with goals, benchmarks, strategies, and outcomes for the next 35 years to normalize ōlelo Hawaiʻi.

ʻAha Pūnana Leo is urged to coordinate a coalition over two years to develop the plan, with participation from Hawaiian language organizations, schools, Department of Education, Kamehameha Schools, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, ʻŌiwi TV, native speakers, and other appropriate organizations.

The Hawaiian Language Plan and any proposed legislation must be submitted to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2021 Regular Session convening.

The resolution recognizes 35 years of achievements in Hawaiian language preservation including the establishment of Hawaiian medium pathways from preschool through graduate education, Hawaiian language offerings in over two-thirds of Department of Education high schools, broadcast media initiatives, and graduates raising children as Hawaiian speakers.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Governor, Hawaiian delegation members, and leaders of Hawaiian language organizations and educational institutions.
