Director of Health requested to convene a mental health and substance abuse parity working group by July 1, 2019, with co-chairs from the Department of Health and Attorney General's office.

Working group membership includes 15 designated positions representing state agencies, legislative leadership, advocacy organizations, health plans, and licensed medical professionals (physicians, psychologists, and clinical social workers).

Working group directed to examine federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 compliance, national health care reform provisions affecting behavioral health, and identify areas of state law requiring updates or enhancement.

Working group to evaluate policy elements including coverage options, financial and durational limits, managed care requirements, network adequacy, prescription medications, and independent external review processes.

Working group required to submit findings and legislative recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2020 regular session and dissolves June 30, 2020.
