HI HB1035

Authorizes the Department of Land and Natural Resources to enter into the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact or similar agreements with state, federal, or foreign entities for mutual enforcement of hunting, fishing, and wildlife laws.

Allows the department to adopt rules under chapter 91 as necessary to enforce any agreement entered into under this authority.

Enables Hawaii to prevent wildlife violators from other states who have lost hunting, fishing, or trapping privileges from obtaining licenses in Hawaii, and vice versa.

Notes that 48 states have already passed legislation to join the compact, with participating states reporting minimal costs and administrative burdens; the information system costs $500 annually per member state.

Takes effect on July 1, 2019.
