• Prohibits the attorney general from representing the legislature as a whole, either house of the legislature, or individual members or groups of members acting in their official capacity

• Clarifies that "department" does not include members or groups of members of the legislature, removing them from the general restriction on departments hiring attorneys outside the attorney general's office

• Requires the respective house to provide legal representation at its own cost to any member sued in their official capacity, unless the member declines such representation

• Allows the legislature, either house, or individual members to independently retain attorneys to represent their respective offices
