Hawaii's medicaid fraud unit traditionally funded its 25% state match through settlements in large multistate civil fraud cases, but these cases are decreasing and available balances are projected to be depleted by August 2020

Transfer from the DNA registry special fund provides bridge funding for fiscal year 2021 while the state establishes a permanent budgeted appropriation process for the medicaid fraud unit match
