Amends Section 269-2, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to restructure how public utilities commissioners are compensated effective July 1, 2019.

Sets the Public Utilities Commission chairperson's salary equal to the highest pay tier of a supervising deputy attorney general.

Sets other PUC commissioners' salaries equal to the lowest pay tier of the first deputy attorney general.

Replaces the previous salary structure that pegged the chairperson to 87% of the director of human resources development's salary and other commissioners to 95% of the chairperson's salary.

Aims to retain high-caliber commissioners by providing competitive salaries aligned with other states and comparable state positions to prevent loss of commissioners to mainland employment.
