HB1410 Summary

• Adds a new requirement that at least one member of the Board of Land and Natural Resources must have demonstrated knowledge of the State's non-commercial and commercial fishing communities, traditional fishing rights, and recreational and commercial boating communities.

• Requires the fishing and boating community member to have work history demonstrating appropriate knowledge of fishing communities, traditional fishing rights, ocean resource conservation, and boating communities.

• Requires recommendation by a statewide fishing organization for nomination of the fishing and boating communities member to the board.

• Modifies existing qualification requirements for board members to clarify that conservation and native Hawaiian traditional practice members are separate from the new fishing and boating communities member.

• Takes effect on July 1, 2050.
