HB 1659 Summary

• Authorizes pharmacies to provide customized patient medication packages containing one or more prescribed solid oral dosage forms upon obtaining written, oral, or electronic consent from the patient, caregiver, guardian, or prescribing practitioner.

• Requires customized medication packages to comply with existing labeling and dispensing requirements under Hawaii Revised Statutes section 328-16 and to be accompanied by a valid current prescription.

• Adds six new synthetic opioid substances to Hawaii's Schedule I controlled substances list: 4-fluoroisobutyryl fentanyl, acryl fentanyl, ocfentanil, and three other fentanyl variants.

• Changes the final provision of the opioid list from "and" to a semicolon after item 63 (U-47700) to accommodate new entries.

• Takes effect upon approval.
