HB 1900 Summary

• Amends HRS Section 706-623 to require courts to review presentence detention certificates, compute sentence expiration dates for probation conditions, and include expiration dates in judgment orders.

• Amends HRS Section 706-671 to require custody officers provide detention certificates to courts prior to sentencing (not "at" sentencing) and require courts to compute and include sentence expiration dates in judgment orders.

• Changes the timing requirement in HRS Section 706-671(2) so resentencing certificates are provided prior to sentence rather than at sentencing time.

• Requires courts to calculate sentence expiration dates in month, day, year format for each case and count when reviewing credit time certificates.

• Takes effect upon approval.
