HB 1915 Summary

• Establishes a workforce readiness program within the Department of Education to be administered by the adult and community education program.

• Requires the Department of Education to designate schools, including adult and community schools, to participate in the program and provide opportunities for students to earn associate degrees, workforce development diplomas, pre-apprenticeship certificates, and industry-recognized certificates.

• Authorizes the Department of Education to coordinate with the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations and the Department of Human Services Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and to contract with local industry employers to develop and implement the program.

• Appropriates funds from general revenues for fiscal year 2020-2021 for development and implementation of the workforce readiness program (specific amount left blank in bill text).
