HB 1974 Summary

• Adds residency requirement for State Public Charter School Commission nominees, requiring them to be Hawaii residents or willing to relocate to the State to promote availability, communication, and community engagement.

• Changes language regarding commission member travel expense reimbursement from "shall be reimbursed" to "may be reimbursed for necessary and reasonable travel expenses" incurred in official commission business.

• Applies the residency requirement to nominees nominated on or after the effective date of the Act.
