HI HB2149

Allows home-schooled high school students in grades 9-12 to participate as unattached competitors in individual sports offered by the public school they would otherwise attend.

Requires eligible students to meet participation requirements including maintaining appropriate grade point average, paying fees, and signing a release and assumption of risk waiver.

Defines "individual sport" as school-authorized non-team sports including air riflery, bowling, cross country, diving, esports, golf, judo, swimming, tennis, track and field, and wrestling.

Authorizes the Department of Education to adopt rules and establish procedures for eligible students to apply for participation in individual sports.

Takes effect July 1, 2050.
