HI HB2150

Requires the Department of Education to employ at least one full-time equivalent teacher for each grade level with five or more students in grades kindergarten through six in public schools with 150 or fewer students, excluding charter schools, beginning in the 2020-2021 school year.

Defines "small school" as any school established and maintained by the Department of Education, excluding charter schools, with a student enrollment of 150 or fewer students.

Appropriates funds from general revenues for fiscal year 2020-2021 to the Department of Education to implement this requirement (specific appropriation amount left blank in bill text).

Takes effect July 1, 2050, with the exception that the appropriation provision takes effect July 1, 2020.
