Officially designates the Hawaii Theatre Center as the Hawaii State Theatre, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1922 and recognized as the second largest proscenium performance facility in Hawaii.

Implementation of this status shall be administered through the Department of Land and Natural Resources historic preservation program via annual appropriations from general state revenues.

Hawaii Theatre Center retains autonomy over its programs and policies, with state designation not implying state control except as specifically provided in the statute.

Exempts the Hawaii State Theatre from chapter 42F qualifying standards and conditions, though any subcontractors must comply with chapter 42F requirements.

Requires the theatre's board chair to submit an annual report to the legislature detailing facility maintenance and functions accomplished through state fund expenditures, due at least 20 days before each regular legislative session.
