Requires registered sanitarians and food inspectors to promote food donation recovery during routine inspections through newsletters, bulletins, and handouts informing operators about liability protections.

Permits donation of food fit for human consumption by persons, gleaners, and food facilities directly to end recipients or to charitable, religious, or nonprofit organizations and food banks.

Expands liability protection to shield donors from civil and criminal liability for donations made in good faith, except for gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

Allows donation of perishable and nonperishable food that has exceeded labeled shelf life dates if the distributor makes a good faith evaluation that the food is wholesome.

Effective July 1, 2050.
