H.B. 284 - Fair Share Health Care Disclosure Act

• Requires the Department of Human Services to compile data on employers with employees enrolled in public assistance programs and submit annual reports to the legislature identifying the 50 employers with the highest number of public assistance recipients.

• Report must include for each employer: address, number of full-time and part-time employees, number of recipients employed, number of recipient spouses or dependents, cost to the state of providing assistance, and number of employees eligible for employer health benefits.

• Prohibits inclusion of employee names or personally identifiable information in reports and requires compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy standards.

• Requires the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to assist by sharing employment data with the Department of Human Services.

• Takes effect on January 1, 2050.
