HB 656 - Child Care Facilities

• Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 346-153 to require the Department of Human Services to post inspection reports for all child care facilities on its website beginning January 1, 2020.

• Requires inspection reports be posted within thirty working days of inspection completion and include inspection dates, violations, corrective action plans, and facility quality information.

• Maintains existing protections for sensitive personal information including home addresses of family and group child care homes, and prohibits release of complainant names or identifying information.

• Authorizes the department to allow unpaid student interns with departmental oversight to input inspection data and post reports to the website.

• Appropriates unspecified general revenues to the Department of Human Services for fiscal years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 to implement these reporting requirements, effective July 1, 2019.
