H.B. 741 Summary

• Adds a "one hundred per cent disabled veteran" designation option to Hawaii driver's licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards for veterans designated as such by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Allows applicants to voluntarily include the disabled veteran notation on the front of their licenses and identification cards alongside the existing veteran status designation.

• Defines "one hundred per cent disabled veteran" as any person designated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as having service-related disabilities that rendered them permanently and totally disabled.

• Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes sections 286-109, 286-111, 286-303, and 286-305 to incorporate the new designation into application and issuance procedures for driver's licenses and identification cards.

• Takes effect July 1, 2019.
