H.C.R. NO. 103 Summary

• Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is requested to conduct a study and survey on gender representation on boards of public and private for-profit and nonprofit corporations in Hawaii.

• Study must identify the number of women directors on corporate boards, analyze changes over time, compare Hawaii's representation to other states and globally, examine economic impacts of women directors, and review gender diversity laws across the United States.

• Department is requested to seek input from the Department of Taxation, American Association of University Women Hawaii Chapter, Hawaii Employers Council, Hawaii Business Roundtable, and Hawaii Executive Collaborative.

• Study must collect data on both paid and unpaid board positions for corporations authorized to do business in Hawaii.

• Department must submit a report with findings, recommendations, and proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2021.
