Request the Department of Transportation to designate the Reef Runway at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport as the Frank T. Okimoto Reef Runway in honor of the late Project Engineer.

Require the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signage identifying the runway by its new name.

The Reef Runway was constructed in 1977 at a cost of $89 million on coral reef adjacent to Honolulu International Airport to reduce aircraft noise patterns over the city.

Frank T. Okimoto served as the airports civil engineer from 1967 until his death in 1978 and championed environmental surveys during the runway's design and construction.

Designating the runway with Okimoto's name will not adversely affect any state or federal funding for the runway or the airport.
