Attorney General is requested to convene a task force to study the progression of hate crime investigations and prosecutions from initial police report through case closure.

Task force membership shall include representatives from the Department of Attorney General, each county police department, each county prosecuting attorney office, and four representatives from agencies with responsibility for adult or juvenile offenses.

Task force is to make recommendations on improvements to prosecution and comprehensive reporting of hate crimes.

Task force must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 40 days before the 2021 Regular Session convenes.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Governor, Attorney General, county prosecuting attorneys, and county police chiefs.
