Request the Attorney General to convene a task force to study hate crime investigations and prosecutions from initial police report through case closure.

Task force membership to include representatives from the Department of Attorney General, each county police department, each county prosecuting attorney office, and four representatives from agencies with investigative, detention, custodial, adjudicative, or program responsibility for adult or juvenile offenses.

Task force directed to make recommendations on improvements to prosecution and comprehensive reporting of hate crimes.

Task force required to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 40 days before the 2021 Regular Session convening.

Certified copies to be transmitted to the Governor, Attorney General, county prosecutors, and county police chiefs.
