Requests the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs to convene a working group to develop and recommend certification requirements for dental assistants in Hawaii

Working group composition includes the Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (chair), Director of Health, Board of Dentistry member, representatives from the Hawaii Dental Association and Hawaii Dental Hygienists' Association, and a representative from Kapiolani Community College's Dental Assisting Program

Notes that Hawaii is among a small group of states that does not require dental assistants to be certified, and that certification is necessary to ensure public health, safety, and consumer confidence

Requires the working group to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the 2021 Regular Session

Directs transmission of certified copies to leadership at DCCA, Department of Health, Board of Dentistry, Hawaii Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Hygienists' Association, and Kapiolani Community College
