HI SB1261

Authorizes the Department of Land and Natural Resources to enter into the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact or similar mutual assistance agreements with state, federal, or foreign entities for enforcing hunting, fishing, and wildlife laws.

Enables the department to adopt rules under chapter 91 to enforce any agreement entered into under this authority.

Allows Hawaii to prevent wildlife violators who lost privileges in other member states from obtaining hunting or fishing licenses in Hawaii, and prevents Hawaii violators from avoiding penalties by engaging in regulated activities in other states.

Establishes reciprocal enforcement mechanisms similar to existing multistate driver license and nonresident violator compacts that Hawaii already participates in.

Takes effect upon approval; the information system to facilitate participation costs member states a nominal annual fee of $500.
