S.B. 1382 Summary

• Requires each chamber of the legislature to establish rules enabling livestreaming of all public hearings and informational briefings held at the state capitol through audiovisual technology available to the public.

• Mandates the legislative broadcast program to make audio or audiovisual recordings of all public hearings and informational briefings at the state capitol and maintain a public archive of these recordings.

• Appropriates funds for fiscal years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 to the legislative reference bureau for purchase of recording equipment, archival materials, and staff necessary to implement the Act (amount left blank in bill).

• Effective date is July 1, 2050.
