SB2005 Summary

• Establishes automatic voter registration when individuals apply for or renew a driver's license, provisional license, instruction permit, or identification card, unless they affirmatively decline on the application form.

• Requires the examiner of drivers to electronically transmit voter registration information to county clerks, election officials, and the online voter registration system upon applicant authorization.

• Allows applicants to request name or address changes to existing voter registration information on the same application form used for driver's license or identification card applications.

• Authorizes election officials and the statewide voter registration system to access driver's license and identification card databases maintained by counties and the Department of Transportation for voter registration processing and election purposes.

• Takes effect on July 1, 2050.
