SB 2103 Summary

• Director of Finance shall issue special number plates for electric vehicles owned by state residents to commemorate the Polynesian Voyaging Society upon application and payment of required fees.

• Special plate design must be established by the Honolulu Director of Finance in consultation with other county finance directors, police chiefs, and the Polynesian Voyaging Society Board, and must contain identifying words or images while maintaining visibility of required plate information.

• Special plate fees shall cover the county's cost of production and administration plus a fundraising fee determined by the Director of Finance in consultation with the Polynesian Voyaging Society Board, with revenue deposited in a separate account for the organization.

• Director of Finance may revoke all special plates if fewer than 150 registered electric vehicle owners obtain them within three years of first issuance.

• Act takes effect July 1, 2050.
