S.B. 2105 Summary

• Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 286-107 to expand driver's license renewal eligibility for certain federal employees
• Allows civilian employees and contractors of the U.S. Department of Defense to renew driver's licenses more than six months (but not more than two years) before expiration if they notify the examiner they will be stationed overseas during the standard six-month renewal window
• Currently, driver's license renewals can only be accepted up to six months before expiration; this exception creates a special provision for DOD civilian personnel
• Maintains existing requirement that if renewal is not applied for within 90 days after expiration, the applicant must apply for a new license and be examined accordingly
• Effective upon approval
